These are the perfect shoes for just hanging out. I wear them at times when I might otherwise be inclined to wear flip flops or sneakers. Now that it's summer, it's a great alternative to sneakers because you don't need socks, and they're more open - sort of a sneaker sandal, if you will. Definitely purchase it a half size below your normal everyday shoe size because it seems to run a little big. I usually wear an 8.5 but purchased the 8, and they fit perfectly. I wear them with jeans or shorts, but they are too casual and a little heavy-looking with skirts or dresses, so not a dressy shoe at all. These shoes aren't cheap, but I don't feel any guilt for having purchased them because they are going to go a long way.
